Three years ago today I signed up and joined Second Life.  For all the friends I’ve made and the new people I’ve met it’s been an adventure that I’ve enjoyed every mintue off. There have been people that have encouraged and supported me through many ups and downs. I’m not going to list anyone, they know who they are, thank you to everyone.

Today is also a sad day. Greenies was one of the first sims I ever came across in Second Life and today will most probably be the last day you will ever get to see this brilliant place if you’ve never been before. Definitely worth seeing before it closes for good.

The Fantasy Faire kicked off yesterday and will be running till April 25th and there’s lots to see and buy from mad clowns, to robots, to neko’s, to gargoyle’s and twisted demons. A whole range of wonderful creations being shown for the first time at the faire. And to start off my daily covering of some of the great creations for sale at the faire, here is the wonderful gargoyle avatar by Munchflower of Nomine

One of my favourite stores is ‘Last Eden’ formed by Lord Grayskull and Jen Tone. I’ve been following their releases now for nearly two years from a small airship to the current incarnation. It’s been fantastic following each new release as they expand and grow.

Today’s avatar is from their store titled ‘Protect Armour MK 1′. The beauty of this set is there are no scripts running in the clothing execpt for the animations and firing effects in the rifle which you don’t have to wear. Everything fitted perfectly with no adjustments needed at all, and comes with a shape so that it all fits smoothly.

This weeks stunning avatar is by Kazuhiro Aridian of Europa. In the notecard that comes with the avatar the following is said:

In the age of the Nothing, there was borne a Something, and then the Nothing became Everything; full and fleeting with life and with things. And alongside this reality, of all things shape and form, there was created the Dreaming. Europa was created when the first life form settled into slumber, and into the realm of the Dreaming. It has remained here, changing its form over the years, the centuries, and with the interaction of other dreams, it has become what it is today.

This is the tradingpost of the Dreaming.

Thoughts swell and swirl and come into being within dreams, and it is here where creatures of the magnificent are collected after having been borne into dreams. This place does not represent all of these creatures, as there are many with no shape nor form, rather; this place collects them as would a library of books, or a collector of insects. And of course, there are many of creatures outside the collection, but our collection grows, for the dreaming never ceases, until the very last form of life has since slowed and died. The Dreaming and Europa exist as long as there are creatures in this universe of shape and form that dream.

The Dravyn is one of these creatures, collected from the minds of dreaming scientists, perhaps from different scientific fields, and combined in the fabric of the Dreaming. It appears to be a mixture of a sort of lizard, a bird, and an insect.

Today’s avatar is this stunning dragon created by Verkin Raven at Seawolf. Each dragon comes in two versions, the standard version as show in the pictures below and also as biped version. Every part of it is customisable either choosing from preset colours in the hud attachment or creating your own colours and textures. It also comes with a saddle so you can take someone for a ride. These dragons are not small and this one I have is very large when fully rezzed.

Today’s avatar is the very impressive ‘Cyber Widow’ by Skills Hak of Gemini Cybernetics.

This weeks avatar comes from D&D Creative Labs and is called Twlight Dawn of Knights. It’s a superb creation that comes complete with skin and shape. The helmet often reminding me of something from a Daft Punk video.

One of the great things I love about Second Life is that from one day to the next you really can be anything you want to be; dragon, demon, angel, robot, zombie, clown, werewolf, tiger, elf, you can be any of these things and much more. The only limit being your imagination. Over the next coming months I hope to show off some of these great avatar sets that can be found in Second Life.
